Commitment to community is one of Makovicka Physical Therapy’s values pillar to serve as a vehicle to engage employees around community issues and provide an opportunity to contribute, support, and participate in meaningful ways. The company requires all full-time professional staff to participate in two community projects each year, however, the team routinely goes above and beyond the requirement.
Another way Makovicka Physical Therapy supports the community is through sponsorships benefitting many local organizations, both financial and in-kind donations. The clinic participates in an annual holiday collection—this year, they will collect diapers for Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders County. The clinic was a drop off location for the Saunders County Back to School Backpack Drive. Other community contributions include providing an athletic trainer for Bishop Neumann High School and Yutan High School.
Since July, the staff has participated in three different community projects around the Wahoo area. The organizations benefitting from the involvement include Bethlehem Church, the Saunders County Museum, and St. Wenceslaus school. Some of the tasks performed were cleaning a church, clearing a playground of weeds, laying and spreading mulch, clearing out playground equipment, and cleaning the museum.
In February 2019, Makovicka Sylliaasen Physical Therapy proudly won the Terry O’Brien Business of the Year Award from the Wahoo Chamber of Commerce.
