Chris Cameron, PT, DPT, is a board-certified orthopaedic clinical specialist, and one of an elite group of professionals to receive the 2022 National Safety Council (NSC) Rising Stars of Safety Award. Cameron directs Makovicka Physical Therapy’s Occupational Health program, with centers in Lincoln and Omaha.
Now in its 13th year, the NSC Rising Stars of Safety Award recognizes up-and-coming safety professionals under age 40 who have a proven track record of safety leadership and who are dedicated to continuous improvement. Thirty-nine men and women from 31 states and 8 countries were selected through a nomination process for exhibiting a commitment to do their part in ensuring people live their best lives, free of preventable injury and death.
Makovicka Physical Therapy’s comprehensive Occupational Health program provides pre-employment screening including drug testing, Fit for Duty, onsite services, and a proven work conditioning program at the centers in Lincoln and Omaha.
This is an excerpt from Cameron’s nomination, “Key component of a company’s success is to ensure they hire individuals who are competent and physically able to perform a task. This is important not only to the safety of the employee but also, and more importantly, to the employees who work with or near that individual and the company in general. As the safety director indicated: ‘Chris Cameron has single-handedly reduced our injury rates by 50% in just one year.’”
Cameron and the other nominees received the prestigious award at the NSC Safety Congress and Exposition in San Diego on September 20th.
