Cory Sylliaasen

Cory originally hails from the great state of South Dakota. He was raised in Irene and attended Mount Marty College, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Chemistry. He went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Creighton University. Since then, Cory has practiced outpatient orthopedics, home health, inpatient, and skilled nursing physical therapy. He has worked exclusively in the outpatient orthopedic setting since 2001 with an emphasis in sports medicine. Cory has been trained in Postural Restoration and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association. He lives in Wahoo, Nebraska, and volunteers in numerous community organizations.
Josh Richling

A Beatrice, Nebraska native, Josh earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln before pursuing his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Creighton University. Throughout his career, he has developed expertise in treating patients of all ages and abilities with diverse orthopedic conditions, bringing advanced clinical skills to every patient interaction. Josh’s contributions to the profession earned him the Young Alumni Award from Creighton’s School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. He maintains active involvement in the field through membership in the American Physical Therapy Association Nebraska Chapter. He serves as Director Emeritus on the Alumni Advisory Board at Creighton’s School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.
Dan McCutchen

Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dan earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa, where he also competed in intercollegiate baseball and tennis. He has since advanced his expertise by becoming a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and completing advanced aquatic therapy training. Dan particularly enjoys working with runners, triathletes, and patients recovering from orthopedic injuries. Beyond clinical practice, Dan contributes to the profession’s advancement through leadership roles. He has served on the APTA of Nebraska Executive Board since 2018. Currently, he serves on the APTA Private Practice Section Payment Policy Committee, where he helps shape reimbursement policy for physical therapy practices nationwide.
Jordan Makovicka

Jordan was born and raised in Brainard, Nebraska. He attended Creighton University to pursue a baseball career while receiving his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he continued his education at Creighton where he received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Since earning his doctorate, he has pursued advanced training in manual therapy through the North American Institute of Manual Therapy and functional dry needling through KinetaCore. In 2022, Jordan graduated from the University of Nebraska – Omaha with his Master of Business Administration. Jordan is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and Nebraska Physical Therapy Association.
Jeff Arnold

Growing up in David City, Nebraska, Jeff continued his education at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, where he played football while earning his bachelor’s degree. He then attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, completing both his Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Physical Therapy. Jeff has built exceptional credentials in orthopedic care and athletic performance, holding certifications as both a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. His specialized training includes certification as a Sportsmetrics trainer, equipping him to implement evidence-based ACL injury prevention programs. Jeff remains engaged with the broader physical therapy and sports medicine communities through his memberships in the American Physical Therapy Association Nebraska Chapter and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Kathy Byrnes

Born in Lincoln and raised in Omaha, Kathy holds a bachelor’s degree in Community Health Education from UNO and a master’s in public administration from the University of Nebraska. Her diverse career spans leadership roles as CEO of three local nonprofit organizations and positions in Occupational Health, Community Relations, and Marketing at The Nebraska Medical Center (Nebraska Medicine). Kathy’s commitment to organizational and community excellence is visible through her completion of Leadership Omaha (Class 32), the Nonprofit Executive Institute, and the American Hospital Association’s Creating Healthier Communities Fellowship. She has contributed her governance expertise to numerous organizations, including WELLCOM, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Downtown YMCA, Prevent Blindness Nebraska, Wear Yellow Nebraska, the Gretna Chamber of Commerce, and the inaugural Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Small Business Committee. She also served on the Greater Omaha Chamber Business Excellence Awards Selection Committee for two years.
Irene Burklund

Raised in Cozad, Nebraska, Irene earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, followed by a Master’s in Adult Education and Human Resources while working for a Nebraska-based management consulting firm. Her expertise in organizational development extends beyond Makovicka Physical Therapy, where she taught relations and management courses at local universities.
Irene holds the SHRM-CP certification and remains actively involved in professional organizations, including the Human Resource Association of the Midlands and the Society for Human Resource Management. Her commitment to community service includes former board membership with Heartland Family Services, reflecting her dedication to strengthening both workplace culture and the broader community.
Scott Keenan

Scott is a Physical Therapist, Regional Director, and Clinical Education Coordinator at Makovicka Physical Therapy. He was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, where he graduated from Omaha Roncalli High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska–Omaha. While completing his Master’s degree, Scott served as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant in the Biomechanics Laboratory at UNO. He later earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Creighton University and completed an Orthopedic Residency through Creighton as well. Scott is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Nebraska Physical Therapy Association (NPTA), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
