Creighton Department of Physical Therapy

The Makovicka Difference

We are leaders in our profession, locally owned and operated by physical therapists who forge relationships with patients, and advocate for their care. All of our clinics have board-certified specialists on staff, meaning you get the highest level of care to maximize your recovery, and get you back to your game. We will listen, evaluate your symptoms, and create a personalized physical therapy program to meet your needs and improve your function, strength, and mobility.

Makovicka Physical Therapy is a proud clinic partner of the Creighton University Orthopedic Physical Therapy program, providing a year long, post-professional clinical residency experience in the specialty area of orthopedic physical therapy. The experience includes clinical practice and mentoring, and is equally as valuable to the resident as it is to our company.

“This program is unique because it fosters growth for the physical therapy graduates who are selected, while providing a meaningful way for our company to give back to the community at the same time. The candidates in this program are able to continue advancing their knowledge and education in Orthopedic Physical Therapy while using the skills and expertise they are learning in an outpatient clinic setting.”, said Scott Keenan, clinical residency program coordinator for Makovicka Physical Therapy. “As a previous Creighton clinical resident myself, I understand the needs of the students while they are going through this program, and I enjoy developing relationships with those who are continuing to advance their education in the field I selected for myself. The Creighton University clinical residency program provides a unique experience for advancing student achievements, and for Makovicka Physical Therapy.”

The program is committed to developing resident expertise in advanced orthopedic clinical practice, teaching, and service. The program is dedicated to providing focused, ongoing mentorship to prepare residents to become recognized specialists and leaders in orthopedic physical therapy practice.

Creighton resident, Matt Franco shares his thoughts: “Creighton’s orthopedic physical therapy residency is an intensive one year program. The residency combines clinical practice, research, teaching and additional coursework regarding the current topics in the profession.  The opportunity to be a part of the residency program allows me to experience the passion of patient care with additional opportunities to advance my skills as a physical therapist.”

Makovicka Physical Therapy is committed to the community, and the Creighton University residency partnership program demonstrates our values of providing quality educational and experiential opportunities.
